Mix it up this New Zealand Rosé Day

Rosé isn't just for sipping on its own; it makes a fantastic base for a variety of summer cocktails - think Rosé sangria, mimosa, and frosé! New Zealand’s 9th annual Rosé Day is on Monday 5 February and it’s the perfect time to shake up your Rosé repertoire with these delicious mixed drinks.

Rosé Margarita

Makes 1 cocktail

A pink twist on the classic Margarita. Rosé syrup and sparkling Rosé wine add subtle sweetness and red fruit flavours to this popular cocktail.

INGREDIENTS:

• 15ml Rosé syrup or agave syrup

• 30ml silver tequila

• 30ml fresh lime juice

• 90ml sparkling Rosé wine (chilled)

• 1 lime wedge

• Berry or margarita rim salt

METHOD:

• Rim the edge of a glass with berry-flavoured rim salt or margarita salt by moistening the rim with a lime wedge and dipping the glass into the salt on a shallow dish.

• Fill half a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.

• Pour the Rosé syrup, silver tequila and fresh lime juice into the shaker.

• Secure the lid on the shaker and shake the ingredients vigorously for about 10 to 15 seconds. This ensures that the cocktail is well-mixed and properly chilled.

• Strain the Margarita mixture into the prepared glass and top with sparkling Rosé wine. Serve immediately.

Rosé Aperol Spritz

Makes 1 cocktail

Aperol Spritz is a classic Italian cocktail known for its vibrant colour and refreshing taste. The combination of sparkling Rosé and Aperol creates a refreshing and fruity drink with a zesty flavour.

INGREDIENTS:

• Ice cubes

• 90ml sparkling Rosé wine (chilled)

• 60ml Aperol

• 30ml soda water

• Orange slices as garnish

METHOD:

• Add ice to a wine glass so it is a third of the way full.

• Add sparkling Rosé wine and Aperol and stir to combine.

• Top off the drink with a splash of sparkling water.

• Garnish with fresh orange slices and enjoy.
