A seaside oasis

Amidst the golfing slice of paradise that is Te Arai Links, sits Ric’s – a contemporary, open-plan restaurant that beckons visitors with its charm.
Nestled within the serene Te Arai community, Te Arai Links isn’t just a haven for golfing enthusiasts; it’s a luxurious escape. Stretching across 11 kilometres of pristine white sand beachfront, this locale boasts not only two remarkable golf courses but also accommodation ranging from suites to cottages and villas.
Open to the public, Ric’s is a modern dining space where casual elegance meets comfort. Designed by Studio John Irving Architects, the building blends seamlessly into the natural surroundings, while the interior by Californian designer, Jenni Kayne, exudes both warmth and functionality.
Boasting a stunning view overlooking a sprawling putting green and the ocean beyond, Ric’s offers a relaxing atmosphere, perfect for unwinding after a round of golf, celebrating special occasions or enjoying a family day out. For not-so-serious golfers, the 2.5 acre putting-green, dubbed ‘The Playground’, provides the perfect entertainment – complete with a drink service while you play.
Open throughout the day for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Ric’s is renowned for its exceptional wood-fired pizzas, though the beef and chicken burgers also deserve a mention. For a more elevated dining experience, the tuna tartare, wild mushroom risotto and chimichurri lamb leg are must-haves.
If you’re golfing on the North Course at Te Arai Links, the Halfway House offers a convenient place to stop with a takeaway menu featuring fish tacos, hot dogs, cheeseburgers, and chicken wraps – all ideally accompanied with a cold Sawmill pilsner or refreshing margarita.
This October heralds the opening of ‘Ocean Restaurant’, a fine dining restaurant aptly named for its breathtaking vistas of the ocean and the 18th fairway on the South Course, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor dining spaces.
Ric’s welcomes guests 7 days a week, but securing a reservation is essential.
