Wine, Art and Relaxation Returns

Located on the stunning Tāwharanui Peninsula, Omaha Bay Vineyard (OBV) was established in 2002 by Bev and Hegman Foster. This remarkable property, with its spectacular views out to Little Barrier Island, quickly became their labour of love. For the first 18 months, they dedicated themselves to preparing the land for a vineyard, which now boasts an unusually wide variety of grape vines, including Pinot Gris, Flora, Montepulciano, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Syrah, and Petit Verdot.

The first vintage was harvested in 2006, the winery was built in 2007, and Omaha Bay Vineyard opened to the public in May 2008, with this year marking their 19th vintage. OBV is a must-visit destination, where visitors can take in the magical view over Omaha, out to Little Barrier Island, and beyond, while enjoying superb hand-crafted wines. The tasting room, a wine cave, evokes the charm of old Europe, but the view from the cellar door is quintessentially Kiwi.

The Cellar Door menu offers a delightful selection of appetisers designed to complement the excellent range of wines. From their celebrated antipasto platters to the indulgence of locally crafted chocolates paired with OBV wines, there's something on the menu to tantalise every palate. Encouraging visitors to sit back, relax, and savour the friendly ambience and spectacular views.

Guests are also invited to browse the OBV Art Gallery at their leisure. Strategic lighting unites the timeless elegance of the wine cave with the energy and creativity of some of New Zealand’s most talented artists. All pieces are available for purchase.

OBV now offers accommodation, providing guests with the opportunity to indulge in the ultimate luxury vineyard getaway in their fully self-contained apartment. A private garden area, offering stunning views from OBV's hilltop location, provides the perfect setting for a BBQ or a relaxing evening by the firepit.

Open Friday to Sunday, 11am to 4pm, Omaha Bay Vineyard elegantly combines wine, art and relaxation.
