Crafting the Meanest Burgers

Since their launch in February 2018, MEAN BRGR has garnered a reputation for serving some of the area's most acclaimed burgers. Scott and Amanda, fondly known as Mr. and Mrs. MEAN, relocated from London to Mangawhai in late 2016 to be closer to family and pursue their passion for burgers as a potential business venture.

Their move culminated in the birth of MEAN BRGR, a venture that required extensive planning and effort, from developing their current location on Wood Street to overseeing the design and construction of their distinctive commercial kitchen, housed in a creatively adorned shipping container. The iconic blue container, featuring vibrant art and an eight-foot-high burger mural, stands out prominently on Wood Street, making it a local landmark.

When it comes to their menu, MEAN BRGR stays true to their ethos of freshness and quality. They prepare their beef patties daily in-house using primal beef cuts, source only free-range chicken and fresh fish, and have their own specially baked buns - everything is fresh except for their fries, which is the only menu item they freeze.

In addition to their classic offerings with a MEAN twist, MEAN BRGR continually innovates with new, unique and interesting flavour profiles and textures. They’ve created their own stand-out classics that burger fans come back for time and time again, including The DON, The BOB and The FACEPLANT to name a few.

The philosophy of "if you're going to do one thing, do it well" resonates deeply here, as MEAN BRGR prides itself on delivering burgers that truly live up to their name. Their burgers really are MEAN!
