A Culinary Journey of Bold Flavours
Nestled in the heart of Matakana, Jin Jin offers a vibrant culinary experience for all, merging the bold, aromatic flavours of Southeast Asia with the refined techniques of European cuisine.
The concept of Jin Jin was born in 2014 during a fiery lunch at a Thai café in Cabramatta, Western Sydney. As the heat from the spices built, a transformative idea began to take root. After 25 years of cooking Western and European cuisine, Chef Daniel was ready for a change. A culinary exploration through Southeast Asia sealed the deal, and Jin Jin opened its doors in Matakana in 2016, offering a fresh take on the bold, aromatic dishes of the region.
Jin Jin blends Chef Daniel’s European culinary expertise with the vibrant, diverse flavours of Southeast Asia, particularly Thailand. The name itself reflects a commitment to harmony and balance, a guiding principle behind every dish. The menu is a celebration of fresh ingredients and bold spices, offering dishes that are both comforting and exciting.
Signature offerings like the Spicy Wok- Blasted Calamari Salad, packed with heat and crunch, and the rich Green Curry Chicken, provide a perfect balance of fresh, bold flavours. The Bang Bang Tofu, crispy and coated in a tangy, spicy sauce, is another standout, offering a satisfying combination of crunch and spice. The menu also features lighter options like Sautéed Seafood with Lemongrass, blending Mediterranean influences with Southeast Asian flavours.
One of the defining features of Jin Jin is its warm, family-oriented atmosphere. The restaurant is a reflection of Chef Daniel’s personal journey, from the bond shared with his father and son during that life-changing meal to the familial spirit that permeates the dining experience. The staff are not only passionate about the food but also eager to share the story behind each dish, creating a genuine and welcoming environment.
Since opening, Jin Jin has become a favourite for those seeking authentic Thai flavours in Matakana. The restaurant has earned a reputation for its bold, unapologetic spice and a menu that evolves with the seasons, always staying true to the spirit of Chef Daniel’s journey.
At Jin Jin, dining is more than just about food - it’s an invitation to experience the flavours of Thailand, explore new tastes, and discover the story behind each dish.
