Chaos, Calm, and Connection
With the recent launch of his new website, Tom is opening the door for art enthusiasts to explore his latest works, connect directly, and even commission bespoke pieces tailored to specific spaces. His online store offers a glimpse into his creative world, showcasing a range of paintings that reflect his unique artistic voice.
Tom’s artistic journey began during his final years of school, eventually leading him to study at Whitecliffe College of Arts. After honing his style, he exhibited in group shows before taking his talent to Sydney, where he found many interesting creative opportunities. Highlights include a solo exhibition, mural projects for corporate clients including cafés and Red Bull, and transformative interior and changing room artwork for a local clothing store. These experiences shaped his love for creating art that resonates with diverse audiences and enhances environments.
Working primarily with large-scale canvases and a mix of acrylic and aerosol paints, Tom finds art to be a therapeutic practice. His work often balances chaos with negative space, creating compositions that invite viewers to linger and interpret. Music also plays an integral role in his art, “I find the energy or intensity of a piece can definitely be affected by what you listen to,” Tom shares.
For the past eight years, Tom has called Omaha home, a place that holds special meaning for him. Having visited since childhood and meeting his wife there, Omaha’s serene landscapes and natural colour palettes are a constant source of inspiration. "The area has always been a big influence on my work," says Tom. "It’s a privilege to live and create in such a beautiful environment."
Tom enjoys working on commissions, tailoring his art to complement interiors and exteriors alike. “There’s something incredibly rewarding about creating a piece that feels like it belongs in a specific space,” he says. With availability for new projects, he’s keen to collaborate with locals who want to bring a touch of artistic flair to their homes or businesses.
Looking to the future, Tom dreams of hosting an exhibition of large-scale works locally and creating commissioned pieces that enhance the community's shared spaces. Tom Leuschke’s work reflects his passion for art, music, and the natural beauty of the region he’s proud to call home.
