Wildly Grows Beyond The Local Market

The past two years has seen Kaz Staples and her team navigating post-COVID challenges and restructuring the business to not just survive but thrive. “We’re proud to be a local brand,” she says, noting the importance of maintaining a local identity, supporting and employing locally whenever possible. “We have an incredible team who are all from the surrounding area,” says Kaz.

Wildly’s roots date back to its original founder, Amber Rose, selling ferments at the Matakana Farmers’ Market, and Kaz is determined to keep that local spirit alive. Their mission? “To bring wild fermentation to the mainstream,” Kaz shares, “while staying true to the artisan methods that make our products unique and maintaining small-batch brewing quality.”

Today, Wildly’s products can be found in supermarkets across New Zealand, as well as in high-end independent grocers and other artisan stores throughout Aotearoa. But the biggest leap has been in their online sales. “After coming from building a brand without even a website back in the early 2000s, it’s like I’ve found God!” Kaz laughs. “It’s such a different approach compared to my previous business Pure Delish, and it’s exciting to see this channel grow so rapidly.”

Wildly’s online sales have skyrocketed from a few orders a day to nearly 1,000 orders each month this year. A phenomenal growth impacted by Kaz’s son Elliott, who works in digital marketing, and Tayla from local business Dynamic Digital, who’ve helped build a strong social media presence for the brand.

Kaz loves selling online because of the opportunity to connect directly with customers, supporting them in their health and wellness journey through education and building trust. “Yes it’s a lot of work,” she says, “but it really pays off, and supporting others to be their best is what I love the most.”

So, what’s next for Wildly? “Keep growing, keep creating, and keep moving forward with our mission to bring amazing gut-healing ferments to the mainstream,” Kaz states. “We want to support the health and well-being of as many people as possible while building a strong, resilient, and sustainable business where our team can grow and flourish.”

With Kaz’s passion and strong background in business, as the founder of the famous cereal and snack brand Pure Delish, along with her great team and their dedication, Wildly is on track to continue making waves in the world of gut health.
