Internationally acclaimed artist returns to Warkworth

Now, with over 12 years experience and a global reputation, Ryan has chosen to return to his roots and establish his own studio - The Brave. Renowned for his ultra-realistic tattoos, Ryan's lifelike portraits have earned him recognition as one of the best in his field, with a devoted fan base of more than 230,000 Instagram followers.

His accolades include the prestigious ‘Best of Day’ award at the London Tattoo Convention, UK Tattoo Awards’ Best International Artist, and he was granted the coveted Extraordinary Ability US work visa, reserved for individuals of exceptional talent and sustained international achievement. "During my time overseas, I had the privilege of working alongside some of the world’s most inspirational artists," says Ryan. "It enabled me to fine-tune my skills, and I’m excited to bring that to the table locally."

Tucked within Warkworth’s Riverside Arcade at 64 Queen Street, in a shop that may be remembered by locals as a British foods store, the space has undergone a remarkable transformation into a modern, sunlit studio, with beautiful views of the Mahurangi River. "We wanted to create more than just a professional studio that delivers exceptional work," Ryan explains. "It was important to design a space with ambience where clients can feel comfortable and enjoy the experience."

Complementing Ryan’s expertise, The Brave is also home to local talent Ethan Gray and regularly hosts guest artists. While realistic tattoos are Ryan’s forté, The Brave prides itself on artistic versatility and welcomes clients with all visions - from bold colour statements to sentimental memorial portraits, delicate fine line designs and more.
