Tim and Annie Barry’s journey to opening Kourataki Farm Cabins began in 2020 when they purchased a picturesque piece of land just before the onset of a global lockdown. With visions of building their forever home for their growing family, including twins on the way, the Barrys embarked on a journey that would lead them to create something truly special.
As construction on their dream home commenced, the idea of adding cabins to provide temporary accommodation for their weekend visits from Auckland during the building process emerged. In a bold move, they decided to forego their rental property in Ponsonby and relocate with their four boys to the cabins for the remainder of the build, braving the elements and unforeseen challenges along the way.
Despite facing the wettest summer on record and their planned timeline of three months stretching to five months, the cabins served them well amidst the storm, weathering the cyclones with unwavering resilience and not a single leak. For the Barry family, this experience became not just a means to an end but a transformative journey that strengthened their bonds and became the greatest adventure they’ve had as a family.
Now, Tim and Annie Barry want to share the magic of Kourataki Farm Cabins. Set on their 60-acre farm in Leigh, these fully furnished cabins offer an unparalleled off-grid glamping experience. Accommodating up to eight guests comfortably, the cabins boast lit boardwalks connecting to bathroom facilities, a charming deck, and an outdoor BBQ area for dining under the stars.
