A new store in Matakana is born of a love of good design. Passion project of interior designer Lucinda McDonald, Home Matters has arrived, offering vibrant homeware, giftware, furniture and a range of interior design services.

What inspired Home Matters?

Home Matters is inspired by a love of homes with personality and character, and a strong belief that warm and welcoming interiors are those that exude a strong sense of the people
that live in them. The store is an extension of the things I love
- fabric, craft, quality New Zealand made furniture and clever combinations of colour and pattern. My goal with the store is to make these things easily accessible to customers.

Tell us about your experience with Soul Interior Design. In what way will your interior design knowledge be reflected in Home Matters?

Soul interior Design is a full service interior design studio working predominantly with residential clients undertaking renovations, new builds and makeovers. It is a very personal process and our objective is to enable clients to make informed decisions and encourage brave choices that reflect the overall vision for the home.

At Home Matters, we’ll be offering our go-to interior design favourites and the ability to customise pieces to suit needs, preferences and the environment. With our network of suppliers, creatives and New Zealand manufacturers, we’ll be evolving and changing to showcase the amazing range available.

What can people expect to see in store?

We have a curated selection of homeware from cushions, rugs and lighting to vases, tableware and accessories. Furniture items include sofas, ottomans, chairs, barstools and tables. We also stock a range of gifts that are a little bit different and offer a gift wrapping service.

Cushions, sofas, armchairs and ottomans can be made to order in your fabric of choice - our knowledge of fabric ensures we offer you options that suit your needs, budget and environment. We also offer a drapery and blind making and installation service and a beautiful range of drapery fabric.

Home Matters can be found at 7 Sharp Road, nestled in between Ravish Café and Matakana Smokehouse. Opening hours are Tuesday to Friday 9:30am to 4pm, Saturday 10am to 3pm and Sunday 10am to 2pm.
