A dream team

A client’s dream for their forever home and a team of local craftsmen helping to bring that vision to life, produces the perfect balance between design and function. A property to excite the senses.

When Warren and Nicky dreamed of escaping the city lights and building their forever home, they knew two things the minute they walked onto the empty lot, just a leisurely stroll from the Point Wells shoreline: they had found their patch of paradise and it deserved a statement home, a home they had always longed for.

With their vision in mind they enlisted the skills of Noel Martin from Martin Design, DJ Jones & Associates Architects, Peta from Yellow Fox Interior Design, as well as Ty from Everitt Kitchens. Then, alongside Capital Construction NZ Ltd, with director Tim Baldwin at the helm to manage the end-to-end project, they achieved a finished product that is a “home that exceeds our expectations”, according to Warren and Nicky.

From the street, the house stands out from all the rest with its vertical and horizontal charcoal cedar cladding and black Coloursteel roof. His and Hers garages frame the covered and decked entrance, creating a sense of intrigue as to what lies behind its proud exterior. Bathed in natural sunlight from the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, high, raked grooved ply ceilings, and numerous skylights, the interior has startling design features made from natural timbers and materials throughout, and is enhanced by the dappled sparkle from the in-ground heated swimming pool outside. With almost every room in the house flowing seamlessly to the multitude of outdoor spaces available, it isn’t long before you’re lured outside.

A property journey that has had its challenges through Covid lockdowns, material shortages and even a Tsunami warning; this is a project that Tim and his team are immensely proud of, while Warren and Nicky keep pinching themselves that they are now in their forever home. “Tim and his team's attention to detail and the quality of the workmanship is apparent everywhere we look. Their help and guidance from vision through to completion has been invaluable to us.”
