Electric Go-Karts Built For Champions

The Matakana Country Park is now home to an electrifying new attraction - E-Volt Racing Matakana, an electric go-kart experience designed for thrill-seekers and racing enthusiasts alike.

Brendan and Kim Coghlan, owners of the Matakana Country Park, are passionate about creating a vibrant hub of local businesses for both the community and visitors to the region. Brendan is known for his entertaining, ambitious and occasionally wild ideas. The innovative 300 metre track was designed to transform an empty paddock into an exciting and unforgettable experience - championing eco-friendly, sustainable tourism with zero emissions and no noise.

Determined to offer only the best, the team embarked on extensive research, including a trip to Europe to test the world’s top go-karts. This search led them to the EcoVolt GT go- karts, designed with the expertise of Formula 1 engineers and manufactured in London for exceptional performance and precision.

Racers can expect explosive acceleration, push-to-pass boosts, and speeds of up to 70km/h, further enhanced with F1-style steering wheels and onboard video head cameras, allowing drivers to relive every thrilling moment.

E-Volt Racing Matakana offers the perfect adrenaline-fuelled adventure for individual racers and group events, including family and friend gatherings, corporate team building, birthday celebrations, and stag and hen parties. You can race against your friends with up to eight karts on the track at once, with each session lasting ten minutes. After the excitement of the race, unwind at Smiths Restaurant and Bar with a refreshing drink and delicious food.

The track is open every Saturday, Sunday, and Public Holiday from 10am to 6pm, or by appointment during the week. Participants must be 12 years or older and at least 1.5 metres tall.
