A Summer’s Day Live

This Summer, Dire Straits Legacy bring back their iconic music, performed by the original musicians who recorded and toured with Dire Straits from over 30 years ago, and who have performed live as Dire Straits on multiple global tours.

Dire Straits Legacy is as original as it gets. The band takes to Aotearoa stages this summer for 'A Summer's Day Live' – returning as the premiere Aotearoa Summer concert series.

Headlining alongside Dire Straits Legacy is the massive Scottish rock act Nazareth; one of the most successful rock bands in the world with a repertoire of global hits spanning five decades, now making history as their first time on Aotearoa soil.

‘A Summer’s Day Live’ returns as the premiere Aotearoa summer concert series, continuing to bring iconic acts and local legends to the regional stages. Past performers for ‘A Summer’s Day Live’ have included US legends TOTO, Bryan Adams, UB40, Jefferson Starship, Dragon and more.

The 2023/2024 concert series will see Dire Straits Legacy and Nazareth play a show at Matakana Country Park in Matakana on Tuesday 2 January 2024, and will be joined by Kiwi favourites, Hello Sailor.

Drawing from six platinum albums, songs from their expansive catalogue will be performed by Dire Straits Legacy’s incredible live show, which features all of the classic Dire Straits hits including ‘Money for Nothing’, ‘Sultans of Swing’, ‘Romeo and Juliet’, ‘Walk of Life’, ‘Brothers in Arms’, ‘Tunnel of Love’ and many more.

In Dire Straits Legacy are Alan Clark, Dire Straits’ first keyboardist; Phil Palmer and Danny Cummings, who both recorded ‘On Every Street’; Mel Collins who played on singles ‘Love Over Gold’ and ‘Twisting by the Pool’. All have performed live with Dire Straits on multiple global tours. The band members will all continue the legacy of Jack Sonni, after his recent untimely passing, with the upcoming shows a special tribute to his life.

Other Dire Straits Legacy members include bassist Trevor Horn (The Buggles, Yes), one of the world’s greatest record producers; Primiano Di Biase, Europe’s most in-demand and sought-after keyboardist; and frontman Marco Caviglia, who is widely regarded as the world’s leading authority on Mark Knopfler’s unique guitar-playing style.

Scottish rock royalty Nazareth have been creating new music since the early 70s right up to the present day, having recently released their 25th studio album ‘Surviving The Law’. With their repertoire featuring hits spanning five decades, including the smash hit ‘Love Hurts’, their songs like ‘Broken Down Angel’ and ‘Bad Bad Boy’ all made their mark on the world charts, alongside the mega hits ‘Dream On’, ‘This Flight Tonight’ and ‘Hair Of The Dog’.

Don’t miss this incredible line-up of rock music; it’s set to be the ultimate Summer’s day. Tickets available from website below.
