The gift of lasting memories

In 2013, charity founder Ronda Amende was diagnosed with a rare cancer and given 12 months to live. Ronda was determined to fight her illness and began a three-year battle with chemotherapy, beating her cancer into remission. With so much heartbreak and uncertainty during this trying time, a chance gesture from a work colleague provided much-needed relief - some time away at a family holiday home. Inspired by the gratitude she felt, Ronda wanted other families in need to have this same experience and the idea for TimeOut was born.

Today, TimeOut is grateful and proud to have over 160 holiday homes on offer from generous Kiwis. Typically, owners donate outside of peak holiday periods, offering 1-2 stays annually, each lasting 2-6 nights. Ranging from private bach owners to commercial accommodation providers, a diverse group donate stays across the country; giving people in need and their families the chance to create special memories together.

Last year, TimeOut organised holiday stays for 117 families; 15 of which were thanks to the generous support of holiday home donors located in the Junction Magazine region. With the area being in such high demand, TimeOut would love to be able to expand their network of accommodation and encourage you to reach out and learn more.
