Shona Stevenson is a real local – she’s one of the fifth generation in her family in the Matakana region.
Her business, Shona Stevenson Makeup Artistry, was established in 2010. After graduating with excellence from the Cut Above Academy in Auckland, Shona knew she wanted to specialise in wedding makeup. And she wanted to do that here, in the region she knows and loves.
This knowledge is a plus when using Shona’s skills – she isn’t just offering wedding makeup to her brides but also ‘insider’ tips about the area: perfect spots for wedding photos, places to go and things to do.
Shona has watched makeup trends change every season, from dark and dramatic, to softer and lighter – corals, nudes and light pastels. “It’s definitely becoming a lot more natural then it used to be. The relaxed, boho look is very much in and I think this will stick around for a while yet,” she says. “It has a vintage feel that’s quite timeless – and it works with fairly natural makeup. Brides are wanting to feel like themselves more; to have fresh and flawless skin with soft, glowing highlights.”
Shona’s work has featured regularly in Junction Magazine as well as Truly and Madly Blog, White Magazine Australia, and Paper and Lace.
