Matakana Village has two local artisan producers joining the Village in the coming weeks – Greg Scopas from Salumeria Fontana and Nico Bonnaud from Honest Chocolat.
Some of you will recognise Greg who has been producing award-winning artisan pork sausages since 2000 and has been selling them every Saturday at the Matakana Village Farmers’ Market.
Along with the handmade Mediterranean sausages Greg also grows and presses olive oil from the Salumeria Fontana Olive Grove at Hoteo North. The new Matakana Deli will be a gourmet foodies dream come true with cured meats, cheeses, fresh breads, hand-made pastas and of course Greg’s award-winning pork sausages and olive oils.
For those looking for decadent sweet treats Honest Chocolat will fuel your chocolate addiction.
Nico, a local French chocolatier, specialises in small batch hand-made chocolates using organic sustainably sourced, single origin chocolate. There are no artificial flavourings, preservatives or palm oil used and you can taste it – Honest Chocolat chocolates are simply the best you will ever taste.
And we’re not just saying that. Nico just won two golds and a silver medal at the New Zealand Chocolate Awards 2017! You’ll be able to visit the Honest Chocolat store in the Village and see Nico at work creating an exquisite range of bonbons, tablets and moreish chocolate coated almonds.
Make sure you stop by the Matakana Village Farmers’ Market soon to sample two of the new stalls – Amber Rose’s ‘Wild Delicious’ serving up health, happiness and slow food and ‘Bite Me’ creating mouth-watering dumplings, sliders and more.
