New Year’s Day 2016 found two couples, Nick Halpin and Nazla Carmine and their life-long friends, Simon and Sally Bosley at a quintessentially Kiwi bach in Omaha. Children, music, good food and fine wine surrounded them, but something crucial was missing… Cocktails!
“We were looking back on the night and felt there was only one thing that could have elevated the experience: cocktails!” Nazla says.
Let’s be honest, Bryan Brown and Tom Cruise mixing up a storm in Cocktail, is quintessential cool. But trying to replicate the movie at home usually results in an unsightly mess, in more ways than one.
The group of friends got together in a bid to solve this niggling first world problem. New Zealand’s first luxury cocktail delivery service was launched with an espresso martini. As co-founder Nazla explains it was the result of a considerable amount of work.
“We had several months of trials and taste testing, but we produced an espresso martini that is unique. We knew the only coffee roastery we wanted to work with was Altezano Brothers. So we pitched the project and held our breath. Their response was, ‘we think this is going to be fun, we’re in.
The collaboration produced the first cold brew coffee specifically crafted for an espresso martini. Master mixologist Grant Pickup has 25-years experience and hunted out the purest premium ingredients available from Kiwi suppliers.
“Every ingredient has been carefully selected to give the ultimate taste profile and a thick longer-lasting crema crown. That’s the gold-standard mark of a quality espresso martini.”
